Dr. Phani Sree Sagi (MD), is the clinical lead of Sparsh Hospice. She did her MBBS from Osmania Medical College and then went to USA to do her residency in Internal medicine. After her Internal Medicine, she further specialized in 'Geriatric Medicine and Palliative care' and has also worked for several years in US before coming back to India in 2008. Dr. Phani Sree works in Apollo Hospitals as a Geriatric specialist and also works at 'Axon Pain Clinic' as a palliative care specialist. Her extensive experience in the US where hospices are well organized and are as common as hospitals, will be a great boon to the patients admitted in Sparsh.
Dr. Madhavi Singh (MD), did her MBBS and MD in Anaesthesia from CMC, Vellore. After her post-graduate training she worked in Australia for 2 years where she trained in pain-management. She returned to India and joined NIMS, Hyderabad where she worked for 7 years as a Faculty and then Joined 'Axon Pain Management Centre' in 2010 where cancer pain management is part of her routine work.
Dr. Varughese Mathai (MS, DNB), did his MBBS and MS (General Surgery) from CMC Vellore. He worked as a teacher in Vellore in the department of Surgery, from where he went on assignments to UK and Singapore. He was a professor of Surgery at CMC Vellore before he joined Global Hospitals in 2002 as a consultant Colo-Rectal Surgeon. As part of his work he deals with cancer patients extensively.
Dr. M. Subrahmanyam (MD, DNB, DA (UK), FRCA), did his MBBS in Osmania Medical College and then went to PGI, Chandigarh for his post-graduation in Anaesthesia. After working in PGI for a few years, he did a post-doctoral course in cardiac anaesthesia in NIMS, Hyderabad. Following this he went to UK for 4 years and then worked for a year in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA for one year as a visiting faculty. He came back to India in 2000 and is part of a large anaesthesia group called Axon Anaesthesia Associates. He is currently working in Rainbow Hospitals as the head of Anaesthesia department.
Dr. Palepu B Gopal (MD, FRCA, CCST), did his MBBS from Rangaraya medical college, Kakinada. He did his post-graduation in Anaesthesia from PGI, Chandigarh. Dr. Gopal then worked in NIMS, Hyderabad for a few years after which he was in Saudi Arabia and then UK for 6 years. He trained extensively in Critical Care and Liver Transplant anaesthesia. He is the Managing Director of 'Axon Anaesthesia Associates', a large anaesthesia group in Hyderabad. He is currently the head of Critical Care in Apollo hospital, Jubilee Hills.
Dr. Pranathi Reddy (MD, DGO, DNB, MRCOG), did her MBBS from Osmania Medical College. She then did her DGO also at Osmania, after which she did her post-graduation (Obstetrics and Gyneacology) from PGI, Chandigarh. After this Dr. Pranathi was in UK for 5 years during which she did her MRCOG and also trained in a sub-speciality "Urogynaecology". She did a year's research project at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbour and returned to India in 2001. She is presently the head of department and the Clinical Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Rainbow Hospital and Perinatal centre.
Sparsh Hospice will be managed under the coordination of Mrs. Padma Reddy. She is working for Sparsh on a purely voluntary basis as she had personally faced the agonizing last stages of her father who suffered from Cancer of the Pancreas. Mrs. Padma has done her B.Com. She is an entrepreneur running a successful designer store. She has 2 children, a doctor and an engineer in the making.
To effectively manage a Hospice, a great amount of team work is needed among doctors, nurses, counselors, physiotherapists and administrators.
Mr. Gangadharam a retired bank official, will be the Administrator for Sparsh. He has worked for over 20years in Vijaya Bank and has a lot of administrative experience. He has also worked in other institutions since his voluntary retirement from Vijaya Bank 4 years ago.
