Any patient who is suffering from life limiting illness or termed as terminal by a registered doctor can reach out to us.

What is a hospice?

The term ‘Hospice’ was originally used to denote a standalone inpatient palliative care service. In many cultures, the term later became synonymous with palliative care. A lot of people use the terms hospice care, palliative care and end of life care interchangeably.

Do the doctors, nurses, other health workers and community volunteers involved in palliative care need any special training?

Delivery of proper care to a bed ridden, incurably ill or dying person involves a lot of skills and knowledge which is not yet part of the main stream education and training programs in our country. So the health care professionals and community volunteers involved in palliative care need to undergo education and training programs to improve their knowledge and skills.

How can one get trained in palliative care?

We offer Certificate Course in palliative care for volunteers. Please reach us on training@sparshhospice.org

At Sparsh what all services are offered?

Sparsh offers patients a serene atmosphere to spend their last days, before making a dignified departure from this world. During the last days, we try to give patients all the comfort and care that they desire, besides treatment and nursing.

Hospice care is basically Palliative care provided in a special home-like facility. It is a special in-patient care for people suffering from end-of-life diseases, whose treatment options have ceased. This home-like abode helps patients and relatives navigate this final journey in peace, comfort and dignity.

Palliative Care at Sparsh Hospice?

Pain relief and palliation; Symptomatic management of medical issues like vomiting, breathlessness, constipation etc.; Wound care, bleeding & ulcer care, tube feeding and other nursing care; Respect the person’s need for privacy; Avoid withholding difficult information. Most patients prefer to be included in discussions about issues that concern them.

A hospice focuses on caring, not curing.

What kind of Cancer Care is provided?

When a cancer patient’s medical team determines that the cancer can no longer be controlled, medical testing and cancer treatment stops. But the patient’s care continues. This care focuses on making the patient comfortable. The patient receives medications and treatments to control pain and other symptoms, such as constipation, nausea, and shortness of breath. Hospice care also provides counselling and mental strength to face the inevitable end.

What are the charges?

No. All of our services are free of cost.

Can I seek homecare for emergencies?

Our homecare timings are 9 AM TO 5 PM.

Is any preparation needed from my end before I come for consultation?

Yes. Please carry medical reports, any government IDs of the patient and caregiver.

Will this service be available on all days? What are the timings?

All our services are available from Monday to Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Will we be provide death report after the patient pass away?

Yes, if the patient passes away at our hospice centre we will issue a death report in one week’s time.

Do you have mortuary services at hospice?

Yes

Do your provide funeral support?

Yes we do only to patients belonging from lower socio-economic starta of the society. The service is available only at listed crematorium with Sparsh.

Is there any App for HomeCare? Is it mandatory to download the APP?
